ITINERARY
On the first day we begin our journey with a visit to the “Jewish Fighters of WW2 Museum” (just opened a year ago. High tech and interesting !), after which we drive up north to Ancient Tzippori – the home of the Sanhedrin (See Gemara Rosh Hashana) and Roman capital of the Galilee. Plenty to see and learn about here, including the theatre, old houses, Crusader fortress, Roman villa with a mosaic floor.
At around 5pm we drive around 40 minutes to Hotel Nof Kineret, literally overlooking the stunning view of the lake. Receive your keys, settle in, Daf Yomi, enjoy delicious and plentiful dinner, Maariv and then join the evening program – Meet and Greet over chocolate and wine. Here is your chance to chat and hear/share stories from fellow Greybeards or retire for an early night.

With a bright and early rise on Monday morning with Shacharis at 6.30am followed by a lavish breakfast, we will be providing a light sandwich and salad for lunch, and then begin our touring for the day.
We begin at the Kineret Courtyard. This is where the first settlers and founders of the Galil lived and began developing the land. We will hear about famous names of both men and women that exerted tremendous energy during challenging times, to create a livable space and growth in the land.
We also visit the nearby Tzemach Historic Train station. Why was this built, when and who for ? What do the Australian Horsebacks have to do with this story?
Moving on, we drive up the western coast of the Kineret visiting the Kever of R’ Akiva and Ramchal. Two giant teachers, each with their own history and personality.
After lunch, we will enter Magdala. Is this a Christian site? Prepare to be very surprised, as our guides will tell and show you how it really all started!
Ending a packed day, we visit the Hula Valley. This is the time of year when millions of birds migrate via Israel (do you know why specifically here?), as they venture down to the southern hemisphere in preparation for the winter. A beautiful site and something quite amazing to see. There will be a golf cart available for those that prefer a ride, rather than walk the park.
Once again, great dinner, maariv and Guest Speaker Rabbi Y. Y. Rubinstein at the evening program.
Tuesday morning, return your key, pick up your lunch and wave bye bye to the Kineret. As we venture inland we will be visiting a honey farm, understanding the Kashrus of honey, how it’s made, the properties of propolis, see silk worms at work, and have the opportunity to purchase soaps and creams with healing properties.
Another venue is the Eshkol Filteration Center. How does our water get cleaned, pumped, filtered and every liter computerized before it comes out of faucets? A huge reservoir and massive pipes will impress you at this wonderful piece of Israeli technology.
It’s been a great and packed tour, and we are excited to visiting places that we (and probably you too) have never been to before!

DATE: TBD (ONE DAY TRIP!)

VENUES: We’ll begin with Mazkeret Batya, near Rechovot. This area was built by Jewish Russian Farmers in 1882 with a dream to build a Jewish agricultural colony to serve as a model for future refugees fleeing persecution. However, it wasn’t so simple. Disagreements versus peace, Baron Rothschild and Shemitta, are just of the intriguing and powerful subjects that envelop this enchanting little village. We’ll see the museum of Rav Muhliver, the Synagogue and even the working pump.
After this, we will be guided at the Ayalon Institute. This a museum of an old bakery and laundermat. What’s so interesting about that you ask? Well, there was a heavily guarded hidden secret downstairs, that was used during the war for the Israeli army, and if we tell you what was made there, it wouldn’t be a secret! Be ready to be surprised!
Next we travel on to IGUDAN – The Israel Waste Water Treatment Center, where ironically nothing goes to waste! Learn the technology, see the results, watch the film and visit the actual pools.
We’ll end our long and fascinating day with a relaxing view of the sea at the Palmachim beach, weather permitting!

GUIDE : Sam Finkel, Author of “Rebels in the Holy Land”, will tell us all about MB. This is the book all about Mazkeret Batya ! Hundreds of pages, tons of photos. The whole story with all the fine details, available on Amazon HERE . No time to read the book? That’s fine too, just join the tour :-). At the other venues, they provide us with their guides.

PRICE : TBD

The Greybeard Experience was started 10 years ago to provide stimulating and educational programming to the senior anglo population of Ramat Beit Shemesh. As a result of our success, we now have participants from Yerushalayim, Telzstone, Betar, Natanya, Maale Adumim, Efrat, Ranana, and other parts of Israel, as well as the United States, Canada, England, and South Africa.

Our primary focus has been three day, two night tiyulim and day trips where we have explored the majesty and mystery of Eretz Yisrael. We cater to the religious community and have designed our tiyulim with a true balance of ruchnius and gashmius.

We invite you to join us. You will be glad you did.
